Advocates exists to protect our religious liberty in all areas of our lives – whether it be at church, at work, at school, or elsewhere. That’s why we’ve put together some informational guides for specific situations. Please feel free to download any of the following brochures for you or anyone else who might benefit from them. We are here to help you!
Marriage
In Support of Prop 8
Although Proposition 8 was approved by a majority of California voters, opponents and radical liberals have taken to the streets and to the courts arguing that this marriage protection amendment to the constitution is unconstitutional. Protests have occurred at the steps of the Capital, at business entrances, and at church doorsteps. These activities are a desperate attempt to overturn the will of the American people – those who supported the initiative that preserves traditional marriage as only between a man and a woman.
Advocates’ attorneys have been contacted by individuals who have not only been harassed and discriminated against, but we are informed that some may have even lost their jobs due to their support of Prop 8. Our opponents have created a "blacklist" of individuals who contributed to the Prop 8 campaign. If you have lost your job because of your support for Prop 8, call or send us an email and we may be able to help you.
Advocates for Faith and Freedom has written a memo addressing this unwarranted harassment. The memo details California labor law and what you need to be aware of if employers discriminate or harass you or anyone you know because of their support of Prop 8.
Amicus Brief in Support of Prop 8
Advocates for Faith and Freedom filed an amicus brief ("friend of the court brief") with the California Supreme Court on January 15, 2009, to defend Prop 8 and preserve the will of the people. The brief was filed on behalf of the California Family Council, the California Republican Attorney's Association, and members of the California Senate and Assembly: Joel Anderson, Paul Cook, Sam Cook, Chuck DeVore, Michael D. Duvall, Jean Fuller, Danny D. Gilmore, Curt Hagman, Diane L.
